Directv HDTV Receiver

The first high definition that came on the market was in Raleigh, North Carolina and the Directtv HDTV receiver has never looked back. It was a revolution in broadcasting, but along with this new television product came rules and regulations from the FCC. This agency has mandated that all stations be capable of broadcasting digital television by 2007. The FCC mandates will affect broadcasters, cable companies, and consumers in a very significant way.

Consumers will have to buy new equipment, which means either a set top box to convert the analog signals to digital signals or they will have to buy a whole new television which has digital features. Broadcasters themselves will have to spend a considerable amount of money to switch over to DVT machines. They will have to buy news cameras, new titling and edit equipment, new tape machines, and new rigs for their news vans, which will prove to be quite expensive even for a company as big as Directtv. Cable operators will have to convert all of their equipment as well as their set top boxes, which will leave some of the cable companies by the wayside because they won't be able to afford it. Maybe the customer will be paying a very high price indeed for their monthly bill. This also gives the customer with the last word because the communities have to agree for the new towers to be built in their communities.

This is all still on the tables of the powers that be right now. Stations have a bit of deciding to do themselves as to which DTV they will broadcast. A clear pattern has not been decided on all this as of yet so it will make a very interesting future in the world of television. We, as consumers, will only know when the heads of companies decide the fate of our TV viewing.

When digital is here to stay, the difference we will see will be spectacular such as wider images on the screen, the pictures will be much more detailed, we will enjoy a much more difference in sound, and the advantages go on and on. It will be like sitting in a theater watching a movie, but so much better because you don't have to leave home or pay to get in and you can have all the popcorn and drinks free of charge.
