Installing an RV Satellite Dish
If you're used to traveling a lot or on the road all the time, you may want to look into getting an RV satellite dish.
Nowadays, being in your RV doesn't have to mean sitting
around and playing cards all day. You and your family can watch great satellite television right from the comfort of the vehicle while
you're parked or while you're
driving.
Satellite dishes that are RV-mounted are available to receive satellite television transmissions and can also seek, track, and
hold onto signals that will enable you to have
uninterrupted reception even if your vehicle is in motion. Once you have installed your RV dish, wiring isn't much different than that of
a home satellite hook-up. Your RV dish will also usually come with a plastic dome that will protect your dish (which is mounted on the roof
of the vehicle) from the rain, snow, and whatever else Mother Nature decides to throw at you.
Installing a satellite dish in your RV is quite the same as installing one in your home. The dish itself comes
pre-assembled and also comes with a handheld control unit. You only need to attach the unit to the wall of your RV and wire it
accordingly. You must also take into consideration the height that the satellite dish will add to the overall height of your RV for
clearance purposes.
To install your RV dish, simply find the appropriate place for it on your roof and secure it using sheet metal screws.
You should also be sure to use a waterproof sealant around your screws to alleviate any wetness that could get in.
Before you can receive programming to your RV, you will need to subscribe to a satellite TV provider just like you would from
your home. Most satellite television providers
offer their products to RV's as well, so you'll never miss the all of your favorite shows, even when you're on the road.
